Pedestrian Hit By Vehicle In Park Ridge

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 73-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night after leaving church in northwest suburban Park Ridge.

The woman was crossing the street with her husband from a church in the 300 block of West Touhy Avenue about 8:15 p.m. when she was struck by a 2001 Chrysler, Park Ridge Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen said.

The driver saw the couple crossing the street and hit the brakes, but struck the woman, Jogmen said.

She was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with injuries to her right ankle, pelvis and head, Jogmen said. The injuries are serious, but not thought to be life-threatening.

Jogmen said the woman and her husband had nearly made it across the street when she was struck. They were not in a crosswalk.

The Park Ridge STAR team is reconstructing the crash to determine whether the driver will be cited.
