Pedestrian Hit By Metra Train In Cary

(STMW) -- A pedestrian was hit by inbound Metra Union Pacific Northwest Train 654 during the Tuesday evening rush in northwest suburban Cary.

It happened about 5 p.m. between the Cary and Pingree Road stations, according to Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.

Authorities have not released the person's condition, but emergency crews did not take anyone from the scene to a hospital, according to a Cary Fire Protection District shift commander.

UP-NW trains near the scene of the collision were still stopped as of 6:30 p.m. and were expected to be delayed through the evening, Gillis said.

Cary police could not immediately provide more details.
