Patrick Kane Named Alternate Captain For USA In World Cup Of Hockey

(CBS) Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane has been named an alternate captain for Team USA in the World Cup of Hockey.

Sharks forward Joe Pavelski has been named the captain for the Americans. Wild defenseman Ryan Suter is also an alternate captain.

Fellow Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews was previously named an alternate captain for Canada.

The World Cup of Hockey is an eight-team tournament that starts Sept. 17 and and will be held in Toronto over a two-week stretch. More than 170 NHL players will participate. Canada, the Czech Republic, Europe, Sweden, North America, Russia, Sweden and USA are the eight teams in the field.
