Pastor Shot Inside Back Of The Yards Church
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A pastor was shot and seriously wounded Sunday afternoon inside a church in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.
About 3:30 p.m., the 40-year-old man was inside a church in the 1700 block of West 48th Street when someone outside fired shots into the building, police said.
A police report said the shooter opened fire on a crowd of people who were congregating inside the small church.
The man was shot in the upper right arm and was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, said Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford. No one else was injured.
Police sources said the pastor may not have been the intended target of the shooting.
