Palatine Police Swarm Shooting Scenes

(CBS) -- Police officers in northwest suburban Palatine swarmed two different locations Thursday after there were reports of shots fired; one incident may have been a police-involved shooting, witnesses said.

Shots were reportedly fired within an apartment complex near Quentin and Colfax.  Witnesses say police fired shots there, possibly after an undercover operation went awry, and possibly at a suspect.

"Next thing you know you heard three shots," building manager Clarence Foster tells CBS 2's Dana Kozlov. "The guy flew out of here, and he wrecked his car on the way out."

That suspect may have gone to a second scene, at Rand and Dundee, where shots also were fired. One person was reportedly taken to Northwest Community Hospital.

Palatine police would not comment Thursday night.
