Palatine Gas Station Robbed At Gunpoint

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A gas station in northwest suburban Palatine was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday.

Two males held up the Marathon Gas Station at 20235 N. Rand Rd. about 11:25 p.m., according to a statement from Lake County sheriff's office. After taking cash, they ran southbound toward Lake Cook Road.

Schaumburg police and Lake County sheriff's canine teams picked up the robbers' scent, which ended in the area of Lake Cook Road and Plum Grove Road, the sheriff's office said. The robbers remain at large.

They are described as two Hispanic males, 15-20 years old, with brown hair, brown eyes and a medium build, authorities said.

The male who pulled out the gun stood 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 and wore a checkered style hooded sweatshirt, black pants with white stripes and carried a fluorescent backpack, the sheriff's office said. The other robber stood 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11 and wore a white hooded sweatshirt with "Southpole" written on the front, gray camouflage pants and carried a black backpack with a white emblem.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lake County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division at (847) 377-4147.
