Pair Breaks Into Crystal Lake Church, Causes Extensive Damage

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man and woman were charged with breaking into a northwest suburban church and causing several thousand dollars' of damage in Crystal Lake early Thursday.

About 12:40 a.m., officers responded to Harvest Bible Chapel Church, 580 Tracy Trail, according to a statement from Crystal Lake police. Officers discovered a shattered glass door and a man, woman running away from the building, police said.

A brief foot pursuit ensued and the two were taken into custody. Police said a "considerable sum" of stolen property was recovered from the suspects.

Zachary D. Armijo, 24, of Woodstock, was charged with one count each of felony burglary, theft and criminal damage to property, police said.

Briana J. Villalobos, 21, also of Woodstock, was charged with one count each of felony burglary and theft, according to police.

Officers later determined that the church likely had sustained "several thousand" dollars of property damage, the statement said.
