Owner Rescues Two Dogs Wandering Along Bishop Ford Freeway

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two dogs were rescued from along the Bishop Ford Freeway early Thursday, after an IDOT truck helped keep them out of traffic.

The dogs were spotted along the shoulder of the Bishop Ford near 115th Street around 6 a.m.

An Illinois Department of Transportation "Minute Men" truck and an Illinois State Police squad car helped block traffic in the far right lane, so the dogs would not wander into traffic, or be hit by a passing vehicle.

State Police said a woman and her daughter had been searching for the dogs all night, and when they learned the dogs were on the Bishop Ford, the daughter drove to get them.

She showed up around 6:45, grabbed the dogs by their collars, and loaded them into the back seat of her SUV, before talking to police at the scene, and then driving away.
