Orland Park Officials To Hold Town Hall Meeting By Phone

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The village of Orland Park has planned something new next week: a town hall meeting by telephone.

The telephone town hall will be Thursday, Sept. 10, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Assistant village manager Joe LaMargo said the idea is to get more civic engagement, and inform more people about what's going on in Orland Park.

This particular town hall will be to discuss all the road projects going on in the village, particularly the LaGrange Road widening project, although the mayor and trustees will take calls on other subjects as well.

"If we don't get through all of the phone calls – not everybody gets through – there's an option for them to leave message, leave their question on the phone and the mayor will personally respond to them with an answer," LaMargo said.

By law, the village can only call landline phones for the town hall, although people who have cell phones may call in to be part of it by calling in on their own, LaMargo said. The number to call is 708-568-1088.

It's anyone's guess how many residents will be taking part. LaMargo said it could be 10, or it could be 10,000.
