Orland Park Mayor To Return 116 Calls From Telephone Town Hall
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin has his work cut out for him, after saying he'd call back people who did not get their questions answered at a recent telephone town hall meeting.
Assistant village manager Joe LaMargo said McLaughlin plans to start making those phone calls Wednesday. There are more than 100 of them.
At one point in last Thursday night's meeting, there were about 2,800 people listening in on the telephone town hall, according to LaMargo.
About 17 people were able to ask questions of McLaughlin during the hour-long session. More than 115 people were either on hold to ask a question or left a voicemail question.
It could take a while for Mayor McLaughlin to fulfill his promise, because "he's a part time mayor. He's got a full time job. So, he'll do it. He'll find the time; whether it's on the weekends, whether it's right after work," LaMargo said.
Because of the success of last week's first ever telephone town hall, Orland Park now plans to do two or three of them a year, according to LaMargo.
Last week's town hall was mainly to discuss road projects in the village, although calls were taken on other topics, such as village finances and the emerald ash borer issue.
