Online Threat Posted Against South Suburban Mosque, Group Says

(CBS) – A south suburban mosque recently has been the target of "violent threats" posted on social media, a Chicago area Islamic advocacy organization says.

The mosque is located on West 93rd Street in Bridgeview. A recent Facebook posting included a reference to France and a threat to extract "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" in connection with the local place of worship, says the Council on American Islamic Relations-Chicago.

Local police and the FBI in Chicago are aware of the threat, CAIR-Chicago said in a news release Thursday.

CAIR-Chicago says the Muslim community should take all threats seriously and notify authorities about any hostile communications that come in through phone calls, emails or on social media.
