One Killed In I-55 Crash In Plainfield

(CBS) -- One person was killed in a crash involving a semi trailer and a car Wednesday afternoon on I-55 in Plainfield, state police confirm.

Police received a call at 4:26 p.m. about the accident at Lockport Road where the semi trailer hit a car on the side of the roadway. The driver of that car was killed and the driver of the semi was transported to the hospital.

The Will County Coroner identified the victim as 47-year-old Eric Sharpe of Joliet.

The crash shut down northbound lanes of I-55 between U.S. Route 30 and IL Route 126 for hours and all lanes reopened as of 8:30 p.m., state police said.
