One Killed In Edgebrook Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A person was killed in an Edgebrook neighborhood crash late Thursday on the Northwest Side.

About 11:20 p.m., two cars were heading east in the 5200 block of West Devon Avenue when one veered into the other, sending it crashing into a tree on the median of the road, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The person in the car that hit the tree, a male whose age wasn't available, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he later died, Gaines said. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the fatality but didn't release more details.

The driver of the other car, a 58-year-old man, stayed at the scene and wasn't hurt, police said.

Information on possible citations or charges wasn't available.
