One Killed, Four Injured In South Side Crash

(CBS) -- One person has died and four others were injured following a three-car crash Sunday morning on Chicago's South Side, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

A Mustang was wrapped around a pole at 71st and Wentworth shortly before 5 a.m., according to the fire department. Chicago police say a passenger was ejected and taken to Christ Medical Center. The fire department says that person died.

A second passenger was trapped in the Mustang and Langford says extricating took about a half-an-hour, so a helicopter was called in to take that person to Christ Medical Center where police say he or she is in critical condition.

The driver is in stable condition. Police say two people from a second vehicle were taken to Christ Medical Center in fair condition and three people from a third vehicle refused treatment.
