One Killed, Five Injured In Humboldt Park Crash

(STMW) -- One person was killed and five others were wounded in a West Side crash early Saturday, police said.

About 4:25 a.m., the six -- two males and four females -- were in a vehicle that crashed into a pole, then a viaduct in the 4500 block of West North Avenue, police said.

Three of the females had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said. One was taken to Stroger Hospital, one to Mount Sinai Hospital and the third was pronounced dead on the way to Norwegian American Hospital. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.

The fourth female was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. The two males later walked into West Suburban Medical Center for treatment, police said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known Saturday morning.
