One Dead In Naperville Fire

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A person was killed late Thursday night in a fire at a Naperville apartment building.

Naperville firefighters responded to a fire in a second-floor unit of a three-story apartment building at 108 Douglas Av. around 11:30 p.m.

During a search of the building, crews found a person in the unit where the fire started. The person was unconscious and was taken to an ambulance outside.

Paramedics could not revive the person, who was pronounced dead at Edward Hospital. The victim's age and gender were not available.

Firefighters got the fire under control within 10 minutes. The building sustained approximately $100,000 in damage to the second and third floors, and the attic. Two apartments were deemed uninhabitable until they can be repaired.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
