Two Dead, One Injured In Extra-Alarm Fire In South Austin

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were found dead and one other was injured in an extra-alarm fire Thursday morning in the South Austin neighborhood.

Police said the fire started around 9:15 a.m. at a home on the 500 block of North Lawler Avenue.

Chicago Fire Department officials said one person jumped from the burning building and was taken to Stroger Hospital with a broken leg.

A man and a woman later were found dead inside the home, which partially collapsed during the blaze.

A 2-11 alarm was called for the fire, bringing in additional manpower and equipment to help extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
