Missing elderly woman: Olga Gutierrez, last seen on Sunday in Markham, suffers from dementia

Police asking public's help in locating missing elderly woman in Markham

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in south suburban Markham are searching for an elderly woman with dementia, who has been missing since Sunday.

Olga A. Gutierrez was last seen around 9 p.m. Sunday in the 3600 block of Arthur Terrace, according to Markham Police. Wednesday is her 84th birthday.

She was dropped off by her daughter at the house where she stays with one of her seven children. The next day when the son she lives with went to go check on her and give her a meal -- no one answered her room door. 

CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reports after using dogs to assist in the search on Tuesday, officials are using a drone to aid their effort on Wednesday.

Illinois State Police also have issued an Endangered Missing Person Advisory, asking for help finding her.

"It hurts to not know if she's safe because that's what I always looked for. It's safety. and I just don't know where she's at so I don't know if she's scared or if she's in a safe place," Gutierrez's daughter Elodia Gill said crying. 

Police, family search for missing elderly woman in Markham

Markham Police said Gutierrez is 4-foot-11-inches, weighs 160 pounds, and has brown eyes and grey hair. She may be wearing Army fatigue shorts and blue crocs.

Family members say Gutierrez has low mobility and a right-side facial droop, police said.
