Man Shot While Standing Outside In Old Norwood Park, Crashes Into Hospital Afterward

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man is in critical condition after being shot while standing outside in Chicago's Old Norwood Park neighborhood Sunday morning.

The man ended up crashing into the hospital after the shooting.

Police say the 40-year-old man was in the 5900 block of North Northwest Highway around 10:15 a.m. when an unknown man started shooting at him.

The victim was shot in the torso and drove himself to AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center, but he ended up crashing into the hospital building.

The man was in critical condition Sunday afternoon.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
