Ogden International School Staffer Fired Over Camera-Like Device In Restroom
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A staff member at a Near North Side school has been fired, just days after a device resembling a camera was found in a staff restroom.
Ogden International School principal Michael Beyer did not identify the employee, and said he cannot share much information, because the issue is now a personnel matter.
"I know this is a shock and that you likely have many questions. I regret that I cannot share details of the removal at this time," Beyer said in an email to parents on Sunday.
On Wednesday, a plastic device that resembled a camera was found in a staff restroom on the Near North Side campus of the school.
The school called police about the device, and conducted a full sweep of the campus, as well as the other Ogden International campus on the West Side, and found no other devices.
"Please know the safety of our children and staff is our top priority. We have taken every every step possible to ensure that this type of incident does not occur again," Beyer wrote.
Beyer said last week the device that was found was not designed to send information, so the school does not believe any images were transmitted by the device.
Chicago police have confirmed they are investigating.
