Officials Investigate Sexting At Homer Glen Middle School

(STMW) -- School officials and the Will County Sheriff's office are investigating reports of sexting among sixth-grade students at Hadley Middle School in southwest suburban Homer Glen.

The investigation, which started Monday, involves multiple reports of sexting among sixth-grade students, according to a statement Principal Kristen Schroeder and Assistant Principal Candis Gasa sent to parents and posted to the school's website Thursday.

"We are taking this matter ver seriously and treating it as a learning opportunity for our students," the statement said.

School social workers and counselors will provide an informational session Friday to teach students about "the dangers and implications of inappropriate use of technology, including the ramifications of sexting, bullying and the misuse of social media," according to the statement.
