Dead Body Found In Pond On West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A dead body was found in water Saturday morning at Douglas Park on the West Side.

Police were called to Douglas Park about 11:10 a.m. for reports of a dead body in one of the park's ponds, police said. The body, found near the 1400 block of South Sacramento Avenue, is of a man, police and fire officials said.

The Chicago Police Marine Unit was still on the scene recovering the body at 2:15 p.m., police said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a non-criminal death investigation, police said Saturday afternoon.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death but could not provide a name or age Saturday afternoon.
