Officer Rescues 14-Year-Old From Burning Home In Lisle

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A police officer in suburban Lisle saved a 14-year-old boy from a burning home Tuesday night.

The fire broke out in the 2700 block of Wayfaring Lane. Officer Bill Wise, a 21-year veteran of the Lisle police department, was nearby and as soon as he arrived, he learned a 14-year-old boy was trapped.

Wise rushed into the house and got the teen out to safety.

The officer and the 14-year-old boy were in the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Wise was released from the hospital and both are expected to recover.

All four units of the house have been evacuated.

A neighbor told CBS 2 the flames were "very intense and very high." She told CBS 2 Wise life ran in a kicked the door down to get into the burning building.

"I think he was very courageous and he didn't even think, he was in the mode to go in there and do what he needed to do," the neighbor said.
