NW Suburban High School Considering Changes To Class Ranking System

(CBS) -- A northwest suburban high school wants to change its class ranking system, reports WBBM's Mariam Sobh.

Huntley High School has a proposal on their website outlining a change to the current system to one that's more inclusive. The new format would be to use the Latin Honor System.

School officials say it would reduce the stress that students feel due to the competitive nature of the current ranking system. They say because class rank is submitted to colleges, students with strong GPAs are often overlooked.

With the Latin Honor System, the school projects 64 more students ranked below the 52 percentile would be GPA eligible for college admission than currently are.
