NW Suburban Health Center Not Taking On Unvaccinated Pediatric Patients

(CBS) -- A northwest suburban health center will not be taking pediatric patients unless they've been immunized.

Crystal Lake based Centegra Physician Care has announced they will only treat children who are vaccinated according to the schedule developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"In the past, we were willing to work with people who wanted to either not vaccinate or vaccinate alternative on an alternative schedule," said, Dr. Laura Bianconi, medical director of pediatrics with Centegra Physician Care.

Bianconi says the new guidelines came after a tipping point when there was an outbreak of measles in Palatine this past February.

She says they'll still treat children in the emergency room or if they come in with an acute condition. But for general checkups they will not be seeing them.
