NW Indiana Man Charged With Child Pornography

PORTAGE, Ind. (STMW) -- A Northwest Indiana man was arrested Friday morning for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

Samuel Franko Jr., 38, was arrested at his home about 9:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Bronze Street in Portage, Ind., and charged with one count of possession of child pornography, a Class D Felony, after a month-long investigation, according to a statement from Indiana State Police.

Investigators served a state search warrant on computers used by Franko and determined that he was possessing and distributing child pornography, police said.

Franko was taken to Porter County Jail, and he may face further charges as the investigation continues, state police said.

The Indiana State Police Crime Against Children units along with Lowell State Police Detectives, Indiana State Police K-9 unit, the Indiana State Police Mobile Forensic Laboratory and Portage Police Department assisted with the investigation.
