Northwestern On Alert After Man Enters Dorm, Hits Female Student

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A student resident of Allison Hall on Northwestern's Evanston campus called police at 4:30 p.m. today to report that an unknown male entered her residence hall room.

A verbal altercation took place, and the man fled, according to a university alert.

The man is suspected of beating a Northwestern student.

She followed and confronted him, and a second altercation took place in which she was physically battered. The suspect also stated: "I'll shoot you."

The student reported no physical injuries and that no weapon was displayed.

University police are investigating,

The suspect was described as a black male approximately 6 feet tall, estimated to be in his late 30's or early 40's, weighing approximately 210 pounds, with a bald head, no facial hair and medium complexion.

He was wearing a green sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was carrying a gray backpack.
