Northern Illinois Handles Ball State, 75-63

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Travon Baker scored 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers, and Northern Illinois beat Ball State 75-63 on Tuesday, handing the Cardinals their ninth straight defeat.

Jordan Threloff scored 12 with eight rebounds, Michael Orris scored 11, including four 3s, and Aaron Armstead had 10 for NIU (10-12, 4-7 Mid-American Conference).

Ball State led midway through the first half until Threloff's layup put NIU up 19-18. Ball State retook the lead and pulled ahead by six, but the Huskies used an 8-0 run to lead 35-32 at halftime.

Orris hit a 3-pointer and a layup and the Huskies led 53-48 with 12 minutes left. Then Orris and Anthony Johnson each hit 3s for a 64-53 lead with 7:31 to go and NIU continued to pull away.

Bo Calhoun and Jeremiah Davis scored 13 apiece for Ball State (7-15, 2-9) and Franko House added 10.
