Northern Illinois Beats Indiana-Northwest, 87-55

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Aaric Armstead scored a career-high 22 points to lead Northern Illinois past NAIA member Indiana-Northwest, 87-55, on Wednesday night.

Northern Illinois (5-0) had a 57-38 rebounding edge and has grabbed more boards than every opponent this season. Travon Baker had 10 rebounds and Jaylen Key added nine boards for the Huskies. Baker's three steals put him 18 behind Ronald Minter (1993-97) for the school's career record of 163.

Quentin Palmer led Indiana-Northwest with eight points. The Red Hawks shot 19 for 70 from the field (27.5 percent) and were 10 of 21 (47.6 percent) from the free-throw line.

The Huskies led 42-34 at halftime and used a 22-4 run to put the game out of reach. Armstead scored 13 points during the stretch.

Northern Illinois outscored the Red Hawks 38-18 in the paint and had a 12-0 advantage in fast-break points.
