Authorities End Investigation At Former Northbrook Home Of Linda Seymour, Missing Since 1982, After No Remains Are Found

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (CBS) -- Authorities have ended an investigation outside the onetime Northbrook home of a woman who has been missing for nearly 40 years, after no human remains were found.

Northbrook police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force have concluded the investigation outside the former home of Linda Seymour in the 1400 block of Orchard Lane in Northbrook.

They said no human remains were found after the NORTAF Forensic Team excavated to a depth of about 9 feet.

The crews started on Tuesday under a backyard shed outside a home in the 1400 block of Orchard Lane in the Sycamore Lane neighborhood.

Linda Seymour lived in that exact home when she vanished back in December 1982.

Northbrook police would only say a tip brought them to the home. Seymour was married and 35 years old when she vanished, and her family still owns the house.

Authorities say there are no other avenues to follow in the investigation at this time.
