Three People Bail After Police Witness Crash In North Mayfair; One Apprehended

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person was apprehended and two others remained at large late Tuesday after a crash in the North Mayfair neighborhood.

At 5:06 p.m., police witnessed a car crash at Foster Avenue and Pulaski Road.

The tactical officers were watching as an Infiniti with three people inside broadsided a Ford Focus headed south on Pulaski Road, police said. The Ford Focus went on to hit a Honda Civic.

The three people in the Infiniti got out and ran off, and one of them jumped into the North Branch of the Chicago River and was later apprehended there by police.

The other two suspects remained at large, and a handgun was recovered from that car, police said.

One person in the Honda Civic was taken to Swedish Hospital with minor injuries.

Charges were pending late Tuesday against the one person who was arrested.
