Robber Holds Up North Chicago Credit Union

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A person armed with a knife robbed a north suburban credit union Friday afternoon in North Chicago.

The robbery happened at the Great Lakes Credit Union at 2525 Green Bay Rd. in North Chicago about 1:40 p.m., FBI spokesman Garrett Croon said.

The suspect, described as a black male armed with a knife, was wearing a t-shirt, blue jeans and a black ski mask, Croon said. He ran away after the robbery.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

The Naval Station Great Lakes initiated a lockdown about 2 p.m. and issued an order to take cover in the nearest building, according to their Twitter account. The lockdown was lifted about an hour later.

North Chicago police and FBI agents are investigating the robbery.
