None Injured By Partial Freight Train Derailment In New Lenox

(CBS) -- No one was injured in a partial freight derailment in New Lenox Sunday morning.

The director of Emergency Management in New Lenox, Michael Potocki, says this was apparently caused by "bad signals on the track."

"Just before 5:00 a.m. we had two trains, east and west bound, collide - kind of clipped each other and derailed. (The cars that derailed were) two boxcars that were empty."

Potocki says he can't speculate on whether the the trains had clearance but he says the trains "vibrating left and right kind of clipped each other and (the two boxcars) partially derailed."

Potocki says there were no injuries - and no evacuations.

He says in the industrial area around the tracks in New Lenox Cherry Hill Road is closed while work goes on around the tracks.
