None Hurt After Car Crashes Into Skokie Bakery

(CBS) -- A car ran into the front of a market and bakery in Skokie this morning.

It was just before 11 in the morning when Pita Inn manager Belal Tabahi heard the crash.

"And we heard like a big sound from the front windows - like breaking down and a car was... probably she pushed the gas instead of the brake. She tried to stop," he said.

Tabahi says nobody was hurt; no customer, no employees and not the two women inside the Honda Accord.

He says employees have been cleaning up glass and motor oil to keep the bakery open for customers.

"They come from far away and they want to buy some stuff, so we try to handle the situation, you know?" Tabahi said.

The Skokie Fire Department says the car ran through the glass and hit a cooler.

The Pita Inn has been a fixture in Skokie for more than 30 years. This location is a market and bakery and it's in the 3900 block of Dempster.
