No Charges Filed After Sexual Assault Reported At Dominican University

RIVER FOREST, Ill. (STMW) -- No charges will be filed in connection with an alleged sexual assault Saturday at Dominican University in west suburban River Forest.

The incident was reported following an underage drinking party in a dormitory on Dominican's main campus at 7900 W. Division, River Forest Police Deputy Chief James O'Shea said. The victim was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

Police spoke to witnesses and identified a person of interest, who turned himself in to police Monday afternoon.

But after conducting "numerous interviews of witnesses, the victim, and a person of interest," the Cook County state's attorney's felony review unit determined no criminal charges will be filed, according to a statement from police.

The man was released from custody late Monday night, police said.

Any further investigation will be conducted by the university, police said.
