No Bond For Man Charged With Tuesday Shooting In Avalon Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A South Shore man charged with shooting another man Tuesday morning in the South Side Avalon Park neighborhood was ordered held without bond Thursday.

Romando Williams, 21, of the 7600 block of South Crandon Avenue, was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm and one misdemeanor count of cannabis possession, according to Chicago Police.

Williams walked up to a man sitting in a vehicle in the 8400 block of South Bennett Avenue and shot him at 10:50 a.m., a statement from police said.

Police said Williams was arrested less than an hour after the shooting, though a motive was not provided.

The 21-year-old victim was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was treated and released for a gunshot wound to the right arm, police said.
