NHL Free Agency: Stastny To Blues, Bolland To Panthers

(CBS) Less than an hour into the start of the NHL's free agency Tuesday, the St. Louis Blues made a big move.

The Blues have signed former Avalanche star Paul Stastny, the premier center on the open market, to a four-year, $28-million deal, according to multiple reports.

The 28-year-old Stastny is coming off a season with Colorado in which he registered 25 goals and 35 assists in 71 games. He'll give St. Louis elite depth at center, as the Blues already boast David Backes there, too.

Miller headed to Canucks

While St. Louis added Stastny, it also appears to have lost a big name Tuesday,

Goalie Ryan Miller has signed with the Canucks, TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie reported. He'll receive a three-year deal worth an average of $6 million annually.

Miller had a 2.64 goals against average and .918 save percentage last season, when he split time between Buffalo and St. Louis.

Bolland gets paid big money

In somewhat of a surprise given his injury history, forward Dave Bolland -- a former Blackhawk who won two Stanley Cup titles in Chicago -- received a five-year, $27.5-million contract from the Panthers. Bolland

Bolland only played 23 games for Toronto last season, recording eight goals and four assists.
