New Food Destination 'Latinicity' Coming To The Loop

(CBS) -- If you spend time in the Loop, you may have seen the signs. Something's cooking at Block 37.

It's sure to spice up your lunch and dinner options this fall, CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez reports.

Opening in md-October, the restaurant is called Latinicity.

Construction's workers are on the move, wines are being selected, and the transformation of the third level of Block 37 into a giant Latin-themed food hall is well underway.

"Everything made in house: we're going to have our own butcher, we're going to be making our own bakery pastries. We're going to keep it as authentic as possible," executive chef Mark Chmielewski says.

The 22,000-square-foot space overlooks the intersection of Randolph and Dearborn. The concept comes from celebrity chef Richard Sandoval. Known for combining Latin ingredients with international flavors, Sandoval has restaurants around the globe.

"From Spain and Portugal to Mexico Central and South America, Richard's traveled a lot over the years and wants to pull everything together under one roof," Steve Harney says.

Latinicity opens just ahead of a new 11-screen AMC cinema, also planned for Block 37 in early 2016.  Those theaters will be the first of their kind in the city, where you can order full-blown dinner and drinks from your reclining chair.

CBS 2 is also located at Block 37.
