Neighborhood Guide: The Loop

If you truly want to be in the center of it all in Chicago, then a visit to the Loop neighborhood is in order. The Loop, which includes well-known Chicago landmarks like The Art Institute of Chicago and Millennium Park, is a must-see spot for both Chicagoans and tourists alike. The area boasts an assortment of restaurants, bars, museums and even public parks. Here’s what you need to do the next time you’re ready to explore Chicago’s Loop.

History Of The Loop

Chicago’s Loop has seen so many historic moments that it’s almost impossible to distill the area’s history into a few sentences. So let’s talk highlights. The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 devastated the city, but you can still see some of the structures that survived, including the Chicago Water Tower (which is now an art gallery). Home Insurance Building, the first skyscraper according to The Guardian, was located at LaSalle and Adams Streets and was demolished in 1931. The iconic architecture of the Loop has made it a popular filming location for TV shows and movies.
