Nearly 100 Officers Join Chicago Police Department

Chicago (CBS) -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel and CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson welcomed 98 new officers to the police department Sunday.

Most of the officers are being deployed to Chicago's South and West Sides.

Superintendent Johnson says since hiring more than 1,000 new officers in the past year, overall crime in the city has dropped 8 percent.
