Near North Side Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child

(STMW) -- Bond has been set at $50,000 Saturday for a Near North Side man charged with sexually assaulting a child multiple times between 1997 and 1999.

Robert J. Weaver, 57, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Thursday and charged with one felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault, according to Chicago Police.

Weaver, who lives in the 1300 block of North Wells, is accused of sexually assaulting the underage victim between July of 1997 and September of 1999, police said.

He was ordered held on a $50,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, according to the Cook County sheriff's office.
