Naperville Man Killed When SUV Veers Off I-55 And Strikes Pole

(STMW) -- A west suburban man was killed when he apparently lost control of his SUV, which veered off I-55 and slammed into a utility pole near southwest suburban Lemont on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened just before 2:30 p.m. near I-55 and I-355 in Lemont, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

A 71-year-old Naperville man was driving a 2013 GMC Acadia southbound on I-55 when he apparently lost control near I-355, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and strike a light pole, according to ISP.

The man's name was not being released pending notification of family.
