Myrtle Beach Pelicans To Remain Cubs' Advanced Class-A Affiliate Through 2020

(CBS) The Cubs have agreed to a four-year extension with the Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Pelicans on their player development contract, which will keep the Pelicans as the Cubs' advanced Class-A affiliate through 2020, they announced Monday.

The Pelicans became an affiliate of the Cubs in 2015 and went on to win the Carolina League championship.

"Myrtle Beach has been a great partner the past two seasons and we are pleased to extend our relationship with the organization," Cubs senior vice president of scouting and player development Jason McLeod said. "Led by Chuck Greenberg and Andy Milovich, the Myrtle Beach front office has provided a very positive experience for our Single-A players both at the ballpark and in the community. We wish them the best of luck as they head into the postseason and aim for their second -- straight Carolina League title."

Myrtle Beach has already clinched its sixth straight trip to the postseason.
