Museum Of Science And Industry Hosting Programs Focusing On Technology, Art For Black History Month

(CBS) -- In celebration of Black History Month, the Museum of Science and Industry is hosting programs highlighting technology and the arts.

Doctor Rabiah Mayas, director of Science and Integrated Strategies at MSI, says, the 'Innovation Studio' is hands-on to encourage a deeper interest in STEM programs.

"For example, some challenges are how do you help yourself get enough sleep every night or how do you reduce food waste in your home or become more environmentally conscious," said Mayas. "This space is all about thinking and creativity and design and innovation as it related to real world problems around STEM."

There's also the long-running Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition which includes more than 100 items: fine art prints, paintings, photography and mixed media.

The two programs at MSI run through late February.
