Murder Victim's Father Fears Escaped Convict May Be Coming For Him

(CBS) – Nelson Williams Sr. of Kankakee says he has an especially good reason to be afraid of an escaped killer: The inmate threatened his family in court after being convicted of killing Williams' son.

Kamron Taylor, 23, escaped the Kankakee County jail earlier this week after assaulting a guard. He was still at large Thursday night, and considered armed and dangerous.

"As I go home every night, I figured he might ambush me like he did my son," the elder Williams tells CBS 2's Brad Edwards.

Taylor was convicted in the June 2013 murder of 21-year-old Nelson Williams Jr. He has previously attempted to escape.

The victim's father said the convict previously threatened the family: "He told us in the courthouse, 'I'm gonna get you (expletives)."

"I really don't know nothing about him. All I know is he came to Kankakee and just terrorized the whole town," Williams says.

The father says he was told, just this week, that the escapee was the suspect in yet another killing. CBS 2 was unable to confirm that with police.

Sheriff's department officials blame low staffing levels at the jail for this week's escape.
