UPDATE: Police Say Attempted Child Luring Was Just A Concerned Parent

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police say a man suspected of attempting to lure a 10-year-old girl into his vehicle Wednesday morning in north suburban Mount Prospect was just a concerned parent offering a ride.

The man came forward to speak to Mount Prospect Police after he saw a community alert regarding a "suspicious incident."

The community alert said a girl was waiting for her school bus at Lincoln Street and Hi Lusi Avenue and a man in a black Jeep SUV asked her if she needed a ride to school. She told the man no and got on her school bus when it arrived as the Jeep parked nearby the intersection. She described the incident to her parents, who reported it to police.

Mount Prospect Police now say the man was just concerned because the girl was standing out in the rain. Police are no longer looking into this incident as suspicious and have cleared the subject of any wrongdoing.
