Motorist Found Shot To Death Where Woman, Boy Are Injured In Crash

(STMW) --One person was killed and two others, including a young child, were injured in a crash caused by a shooting Thursday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

A 31-year-old man was letting a passenger out of his vehicle about 4 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Morgan when an unknown person approached and began shooting, Chicago Police said. He was involved in a crash with three other vehicles as he tried to get away.

Police and firefighters were originally called about the crash, according to authorities. The man was found inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his chest and pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters found a woman and a boy injured in that same vehicle, but said it did not appear they were shot. The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital and the woman to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Fire Media Affairs. Both of their conditions were stabilized.
