Motorcyclist Killed In NW Side Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed in a motorcycle accident early Monday in the Budlong Woods neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

About 12:40 a.m., the 28-year-old was driving north "at a high rate of speed" in the 5500 block of North Lincoln Avenue when his motorcycle struck a curb near the intersection of West Catalpa Avenue and he was ejected, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

He was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the fatality but the man's identity was withheld early Monday pending notification of family members.

No other cars were involved in the crash, and no one else was hurt, police said.

The police Major Accidents Investigations Unit is handling the case.
