Monday's Cubs-Padres Game Postponed

(CBS) The Cubs' hopes to extend their winning streak to eight will have to wait. Monday's contest with the Padres at Wrigley Field was postponed due to extended rain in the forecast.

The Cubs grounds crew put the tarp on Wrigley Field's surface at 6:30 p.m., and the game was scratched shortly after the scheduled first pitch from Jon Lester at 7:05. The two teams will play a split doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game slated for 12:05 and second at 7:05.

The Cubs entered Monday with baseball's best record at 24-6. The Padres are 13-19.
