Milwaukee police officer injured in shooting

MILWAUKEE (CBS) -- One person is in custody after a Milwaukee police officer was shot while responding to a domestic violence call.

CBS 58 in Milwaukee reports the officer was shot in the leg near Fairmount and Green Bay, where police received a domestic violence call around 9:30 a.m., and arrived to find an armed man who started shooting at officers.

A 38-year-old officer was shot in the leg, and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers returned fire, but didn't hit the gunman. The 25-year-old man then holed up inside the home for several hours, with four children inside.

He surrendered to police around 12:30 p.m., and the four children were released unharmed.

No charges have been announced.
